EXHIBITION EXTENDED

June 3 - July 15, 2006

I am driven to create Art by the suspicion ordinary language is not able to tell the complete truth. I have a great desire to create my own form of communication, my own mythology. My work is a grouping of in-depth hieroglyphics, which display my own wishes, fears, heritage, and hope without always giving the viewer a complete Rosetta Stone of translation. Creating artwork becomes a visual extension of my critique and doubt in history, society, and spirituality.
"YOU CAN HAVE MY FOOTPRINTS WHEN I DIE; THEY ARE HERE IN MY SOCKS"

- CHRISTIAN FREDERICK NICKLAUS

May 5 - May 28, 2006

As Gallery 4222 heads into the end of spring, it is excited to introduce 5 new members of our collective.   Brandon Jochum, Bridget Lanigan, Matt Mahler, Matt Phillips and Stelios Stylianou, bring you an eclectic mix of media. Lanigan's color photographs reflect an unconventional awkwardness in her series of Family Portraits.   Mahler draws you an introspective rendition of the America's with an abstract dissection of the continent.   Stylianou shows us a progression of a thought through a barrage of mediums including printmaking, sculpture, and of course mixed media drawings. Phillips paints a page in the history books while Jochum leaves you with a cordial of bronze sculptures that lead the viewer to make an interpretation.

April 1 - April 30, 2006

The next exhibition presented by Gallery 4222 will feature the work of Roberto Perinuzzi, a local Italian-born artist who was trained in the impressionist style. Perinuzzi creates his pieces in an attempt to express his internal emotions and thought as well as his love for art.  He is the winner of Gallery 4222's 1st annual juried exhibition. Perinuzzi's work captures the viewer with his use of color and geometric shapes to show objects that are not of this world, but of the world in his mind.

Perinuzzi has said "There is beauty in our hearts so therefore I try to express and feel this harmony in my work." The pieces in Perinuzzi's solo exhibition reach this goal.

March 4 - March 26, 2006

Gallery 4222 will combine the works of Nathan D. French, Lawrence F. Mesich and Pedro A. Sousa. In Process is an effort to bring works of three artists who have depicted in their works, the role artists take in their arena of work and in addition, the role they hold within today's postmodern landscape they find themselves in.

January 28 - February 26, 2006

The first opening exhibition of the new year at Gallery 4222 is Interpreting the Self . The show will be composed of 21 artists, each contributing one artwork, unified by a common theme of self-portraiture. One required specification given to the artists was to create the works within the constraints of a 20"x20" dimensions, establishing a sense of cohesion and consistency throughout the show.   Interpreting the Self   will consist of paintings, prints, photography and a variety of other mediums the artists work with. Yet, the self-portraits are not your traditional, standard portraiture. The exhibition is a diverse representation of how the artists interpret the way they are perceived within today's scrutinizing society.   The viewing audience are encouraged to participate by leaving comments on how they view the interpretations of the artists.
